I'm Going to Drupalcon Latin America

Image: screen grab from Drupalcon website

Just a quick personal announcement... I'll be in Bogotá, Colombia in February, 2015 for the first ever Drupalcon in South America. I hope to see you there!

One other thing... I'm taking a different approach to travel this time. I've flown to every Drupalcon (7 so far), but this time I'm going almost entirely by motorcycle. Almost entirely? Well there's no actual roads from Panama to Columbia (the Darién Gap), so there's a bit of boat travel. Let's just say I'm sick of airports.

I'm setting up a separate blog to report on my travels and I'll post a link here, in case you're into travel and motorcycles and that sort of thing.

Nos vemos en Colombia!

Hey, please do not use South and Latin America as the same term. While Colombia is in fact South America, when you say "the first ever Drupalcon in South America" it sounds like you're making the typical mistake to assume that anything under the USA/Mexico border is South America. This is the first ever DC in LATIN America (and also in South America).

Also, please be careful traveling from Panama to Colombia. There aren't any roads and the woods there are FARC territory. If you do not know what I mean by FARC, consider flying :)

Also, "Columbia" = a fleece brand; "Colombia" = a country in South America.

Hope this helps ;)

Thanks Alberto, I'll fix the typo... I get it right about 80% of the time. But Columbia is not just fleece... it's one of our provinces in Canada.

I do know about FARC and the Darien gap. There was a guy who rode a motorcycle through the gap—I think it took 80 days. I'll be taking a sailboat.

I hope to see you in Bogotá.

Hi Cleaver,

That's awesome! When will your trip start?

Good luck and see you soon!

Kind regards,
Nick

Since no link to other blog, I'm very curious, what type of bike?

Suzuki DR-650. I'm in Mexico now and due to numerous complications (ie. got busy with work), I'm going to fly the rest of the way to Drupalcon.
